| IBC currently offers 3 "flavors" of proximity readers: |
| Basic Prox | Standard
Proximity Readers by Pyramid with wiegand or aba outputs. These readers are basic proximity readers, for direct connection to access control controllers. |

| Smart
Prox (internal) |
Proximity readers which are compatible with IBC's J series, SA/STA series, and DC series. We offer 2 versions of these readers. One version is in a small casing, and reads proximity cards only. This version will be available mid 2003. The other version (available now) is contained in our standard housing, and can be ordered as a proximity only reader, or proximity plus barcode plus magnetic stripe (all in the same housing). | ||
| Smart
Prox (external) |
This is the
"external" version of the Smart Prox reader (above). With the external version, you can connect any proximity reader with either wiegand or aba output, to the Smart Prox reader. This is a 2-piece solution to proximity reading. A 2-piece solution is beneficial in installations where the reader "guts" need to be hidden because of wiring or installation restriction. |
| Note that IBC 705 converters can also be used with any standard proximity reader that outputs either aba or wiegand format, in order to convert the proximity output into a different format. If your intent on using a Smart Prox J reader is for converting the data format, the 705 converter may be another option. |

by Pyramid systems (formerly Keri), available with
either wiegand or aba interfaces. |
"J" Series Proximity Readers |

Smart Prox J (proximity, or proximity and barcode and magstripe combination)The Smart Prox J reader is
available as a proximity-only reader, or as a combination reader which
can read proximity cards from Pyramid or Hid, as well as barcodes and/or magnetic
stripes. The proximity only version is enclosed in a small housing, while the
combination version is enclosed in IBC's standard housing. The Smart Prox J swipe reader
can read all popular
barcode symbologies as well as magnetic stripe cards and proximity cards in the same
unit. Available with over 20 popular interfaces,
including RS232, RS422/485, TCP/IP, PC Wedge, Wiegand, ABA, and Wand Emulation.
Applications include Access control, Time and Attendance, and parking. This
reader is especially useful where proximity cards are used for employee access,
but temporary cards need to be issued on a daily basis, i.e. hospital parking
facilities. Proximity cards by Pyramid and Hid are supported. |
"SA/STA" Series Stand Alone Proximity Readers |

Smart Prox SA
(proximity and barcode and magstripe) Stand-Alone proximity reader, available with proximity only, or also as a combination reader with barcode and/or magnetic stripe. The Smart Prox SA contains 64K of memory (256K optional), and is used as a 1-piece solution to Access Control. The Smart Prox SA contains an internal relay for door activation, and can be programmed by hand or by downloading from a pc. Supports scheduling. Supports prox cards by Pyramid and Hid. Available in both fixed-mount and portable. Interfaces include RS232, RS422/485, and TCP/IP. This reader is also available with an external proximity head. |

The Smart Prox STA contains 128K of memory (512K optional), and is used as a 1-piece solution for Access Control and Time & Attendance installations. The Smart Prox STA reader contains an internal relay for door activation, and logs every access attempt with a date/time stamp. Supports schedules. Supports proximity cards by Pyramid and Hid. Available in both fixed-mount and portable. Interfaces include RS232, RS422/485, and TCP/IP. This reader is also available with an external read head. |
"DC" Series Proximity Data Collection Reader |

Portable or Fixed-Mount proximity reader for use in Data Collection applications.
The Smart Prox DC contains 128K of memory, and an internal time clock. Each card
swipe is saved in memory along with the date and time. Saved data can be
uploaded to a pc at any time. Proximity cards supported are Pyramid and Hid. The
reader can be ordered optionally with barcode and/or magstripe support. |
